IPL vs. Skin Resurfacing: Which Treatment Is Right for Your Skin?
Two of our most popular advanced skin treatments at Forever True Beauty Salon are IPL Skin Rejuvenation (also called Photo Facial) and Skin Resurfacing. Both deliver impressive results — but they work differently and are suited to different skin concerns. Here’s how to tell which one is right for you.
What Is IPL Skin Rejuvenation (Photo Facial)?
IPL stands for Intense Pulsed Light. During a Photo Facial, broad-spectrum light is delivered into the skin to target pigmentation, redness, and vascular irregularities. The light energy is absorbed by melanin and hemoglobin, which are then naturally broken down by the body.
IPL is best for:
- Sun damage and age spots
- Redness, rosacea, and broken capillaries
- Uneven skin tone and dullness
- General skin brightening and rejuvenation
There is little to no downtime with IPL. Results are gradual and build over a series of sessions — typically 6–8 — for best results.
What Is Skin Resurfacing?
Skin resurfacing uses controlled energy to stimulate collagen production and accelerate cell turnover in the skin. This process reduces surface-level damage and improves skin texture, tone, and firmness over time.
Skin Resurfacing is best for:
- Fine lines and wrinkles
- Acne scarring and textural irregularities
- Enlarged pores
- Pigmentation and uneven skin tone
- Stretch marks and scarring
Results are more intensive than IPL and may require 3–6 sessions depending on your goals. We offer resurfacing for the full face, hands, décolleté, neck, stomach, thighs, and targeted areas.

Can You Combine Both Treatments?
Yes — many clients benefit from a combination approach. For example, IPL can address redness and pigmentation while resurfacing works on texture and fine lines. Our team can help you build a customized treatment plan during a consultation.
